Cabooses - the original RV's

This caboose, model NE-6, was built by the International Car & Equipment Company for the New Haven Railroad as number NH-656 in 1947. It was painted in a couple of different paint schemes for the New Haven. Red with White lettering and then Black with Orange and White lettering. When the New Haven merged with the Penn Central it was painted green with white letters. After Conrail took over for Penn Central it was painted Blue with White lettering.

The first thing we did after finishing the inside of the caboose was to hang this Authentic Aladdin Caboose Lantern. The four holes in the lantern matched the existing holes from many years ago when this caboose had 4 of these lanterns in it. This lantern was a gift from Debbie Davis a friend of ours. It belonged to a friend of both of us, Joe Lobb. we are honored to have been given this lantern in his name.
